Visit Colombia
The fourth largest country in South America, Colombia has a diverse culture, made up of indigenous Indian, African and Spanish origins. Colombia is bordered by Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru & Ecuador.
Gaining independence in 1824, Colombia is the only South American country with coastlines on both the North Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea. Prior to the Spanish conquest, Colombia was inhabited by Chibcha, sub-Andean, and Caribbean communities. Its landscape is a mix of Andean ranges in the west and jungles to the east. Its major resources include oil reserves and mass production of coffee, platinum, coal, gold, silver and emeralds.
Colombia is visited by tourists for its small colonial towns based beside the Caribbean coast, its Andean valleys, expansive national parks, and thriving rainforests.
