URUGUAYANS CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE

The Uruguayan community put on a spectacular show to celebrate their country's independence on Sunday 28th August. With the sun shining and the food flowing, a large crowd enjoyed traditional foods like asado and chivitos, and dances including candombe, folklore, and tango. The day brought out people of all denominations - a true sign that Australia is still so very multicultural. In addition to independence day celebrations, the festival is a charity event with all proceeds going to public hospitals in Uruguay,
