When comparing these two MP3 players it's important to look at every aspect. Both devices have similar characteristics, one thing that stands out is the difference in continuous playback time and audio conversion formats. The Zen has a playback time of 24 hours and the iPod has a playback time of 12 hours, playback time is an important feature as it is inconvenient to keep charging the device when you are on road or away from home. The iPod holds 5,000 audio tracks in MP3 format and it uses its one iTunes software to convert your CD's to MP3. The Zen also holds 5,000 audio tracks in MP3 format and its also uses its own software to convert CD's to Mp3. A great innovation of the Zen is that it also plays WMA files which is a format used default by windows media players to convert CD's to audio files, the Zen lets you store about 10,000 WMA files, keeping the same quality as MP3 files. The Zen has also got radio listening and recording capabilities, which the iPod has yet to master.

To make your final decision I think it is important to also compare the style, looks and weight using the hands on approach, why not pop in your local electronics supplier and see which one you like better knowing what the differences are.
